After a record-breaking summer, Manchester United could be set for more spending in the January window.

Louis van Gaal's team may be in great form, with six wins in a row, but the general consensus is that the team still needs improvement to challenge with Chelsea and Manchester City for the Premier League title.

The club are again linked with a pair of players who have been interesting United for some time.

Fiorentina and Colombia winger Juan Cuadrado, who starred alongside James Rodriguez at the World Cup, is again a target for Van Gaal after almost joining in the summer. The Daily Star report that the winger is unhappy in Italy, with La Viola struggling in eighth place, and United could make another move.

United are also linked with a move for Galatasaray's Wesley Sneijder, who wants a move away from Turkey and is eyeing a reunion with his former international coach. However, Southampton's own Dutch coach, Ronald Koeman is also keen to bring the 30-year-old to the South Coast, according to the Daily Mail.

United target Kevin Strootman will not be sold by Roma in January, according to the Daily Express.

German newspaper Bild says Bayern Munich will turn their attentions to Liverpool youngster Raheem Sterling if they are unable to secure a deal for Borussia Dortmund star Marco Reus.

Reus is believed to have concerns over following Mario Gotze and Robert Lewandowski in moving from Dortmund to rivals Bayern and Pep Guardiola is a fan of the England man.

Sky Sports report that Fernando Torres may well make a shock return to Atletico Madrid, but only if Chelsea are willing to accept a small fee. Torres has failed at AC Milan, with just one goal in 10 matches, and is likely to return to Stamford Bridge. However, he can't be loaned out for a second time this season so the Blues will have to sell if they want rid of him.

Alex Song wants to make his loan move from Barcelona to West Ham, telling the Daily Mirror: "I want to stay here".
