Arsenal have confirmed that Yaya Sanogo has joined Charlton Athletic on loan for the remainder of the season.

The 23-year-old had been on loan at Ajax this season, but failed to score a single goal in his four appearances for the Dutch club.

A statement on Arsenal's website read: "A former France under-21 international, Sanogo arrived at Arsenal from Auxerre in July 2013. He helped the Gunners to win the FA Cup in his debut season, featuring in both the semi-final and the final.

"Yaya has featured a total of 20 times in all competitions for the Gunners, scoring once.

"Everyone at Arsenal wishes Yaya well for his time at The Valley."

The Frenchman's only goal for the Gunners was in the Champions League group stage win over Borussia Dortmund in November 2016.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has said it is "99 per cent" certain they will sign no new players tonight - but did sneakily make this plea to Lionel Messi.
