On Wednesday, AC Milan’s vice-president Adriano Galliani said that he was interested in signing out-of-form Chelsea striker Fernando Torres to fill the void left by Mario Balotelli, who signed for Liverpool earlier this week.

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal is now focused on making Arturo Vidal his next summer deal after completing the signing of Angel Di Maria for a British record transfer fee of £59.7m. Vidal carries another hefty price tag of £30m.

Everton completed the signing of free agent Samuel Eto’o. Eto’o signed a two-year deal with the Merseyside club and he could make his debut against his old club team Chelsea on Saturday.

Crystal Palace did not sign anyone on Wednesday but they did confirm a new manager in Neil Warnock. Palace have been managerless since Tony Pulis left the club just before the start of the new season.

Rumours abound in North London about whether Arsenal will try to sign a striker after Olivier Giroud looks set to miss the first half of the season due to an ankle injury. Reports suggest the Gunners will try to sign PSG's Edinson Cavani for £50m.
