There were three presents waiting for Jessica Ennis yesterday at the British team hotel in Glasgow ahead of her first international test of the year.

In addition to a Victoria sponge cake, Ennis was greeted by a couple of new recruits to the Great Britain squad.

The presence of Ennis, 25 yesterday, as the British team representative in the long jump and 60m hurdles means neither Shara Proctor nor Tiffany Ofili will wear the GB vest at the Aviva International at Kelvin Hall today. Instead, both begin their new careers as rivals of the heptathlete. Proctor, who has switched from Anguilla, competes against Ennis in the long jump, representing the Commonwealth Select. Ofili, who has a British mother and has switched from the US, runs against her in the 60m hurdles for the same team.
