Conor McGregor vs Khabib: Why rematch is destined to end in same result, according to Daniel Cormier
McGregor is already angling for a rematch despite being dominated at UFC 229
Conor McGregor will never be able to get the better of Khabib Nurmagomedov no matter how many times they meet in the Octagon, according to UFC two-weight world champion Daniel Cormier.
Nurmagomedov completely dominated McGregor in their lightweight title fight last weekend, easily winning the first two rounds before forcing the Irishman to tap in the fourth.
Despite Nurmagomedov’s dominant display McGregor immediately indicated that he was “looking forward to the rematch” – although Cormier told UFC commentator Joe Rogan that he does not think the outcome will ever change.
“I mean, Khabib might just have his number for life. That’s what (Daniel) Cormier said,” Rogan said during the latest episode of his podcast.

Show all 30“I was talking to Cormier after the fight. He was like, ‘Listen to me, he’s never going to beat him. Never. He’s never going to beat him.
“I go, ‘You don’t think he could ever get to the point where he can get his takedown defence up enough?’
“He’s like, ‘It’ll never happen, he’s never going get there. He’s too far away.”
Whether the UFC grants McGregor a rematch remains to be seen, although Dana White has admitted the Irishman has already been on the phone to him demanding a second contest.
“First of all, (Nurmagomedov) has to go before the commission,” White said during an appearance on ESPN’s First Take.
“We have to see what's gonna happen with Khabib, with this whole mess. But Conor McGregor has already called me wanting a rematch.”
