Conor McGregor gets his shot at revenge against Nate Diaz at UFC 202 as the hotly-anticipated and delayed rematch finally takes place between two of the fiercest rivals in the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

Diaz claimed a shock submission victory when the pair met at UFC 196 in March, with the American stepping in as a late replacement for Rafael dos Anjos at less than two weeks’ notice. After McGregor dominated the opening round, Diaz fought back emphatically and rocked McGregor before negating a takedown attempt and locking in a rear naked chokehold to force the Irishman to submit.

McGregor was magnanimous in defeat, knowing he had been fairly beaten, but that feeling will change drastically when they meet in the main event of UFC 202 in a bout that was originally scheduled to headline UFC 200 until McGregor unexpectedly – and temporarily – announced his retirement.

The two have become embroiled in a furious build-up that saw McGregor arrive 30 minutes last for the Friday’s press conference, only for Diaz to walk out while McGregor spoke, After exchanging angry remarks, the pair started to throw bottles and cans at each other, with the remainder of the press conference being cancelled.

The result was that both teams were banned from attending the weigh-in, though that didn’t stop the pair going head-to-head and resulting in UFC president Dana White forcing them apart, but everything points to an explosive confrontation when they collide in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Elsewhere, light heavyweight Anthony Johnson takes on Glover Teixeira with both men setting their sights on Daniel Cormier’s title, and with Jon Jones temporarily out of the picture, the winner could well earn themselves a title shot.
