Ice Hockey: Legend Hand to coach Team GB

British ice hockey legend Tony Hand has been named the new head coach of the Great Britain team.

The Edinburgh-born 44-year-old is currently the player-coach for Manchester Phoenix of the English Premier League and takes over following Paul Thompson's recent resignation.

Thompson, who almost led GB to promotion to the elite level of the world championships last year before having to settle for a silver medal, announced earlier this month he was stepping down to focus on club matters with Coventry Blaze, who have experienced financial troubles.

Hand became the first British-raised player to be drafted by a National Hockey League side when he was picked up by the Edmonton Oilers in 1986 and will lead GB at the 2012 World Championship in Slovenia.
