Skiing: Kostelic versatility seals first Super-G
Croatia's Ivica Kostelic confirmed himself as a genuine all-rounder yesterday when he won his first World Cup Super-G race.
"The more you win, the more you win," said the 31-year-old who is better known for slalom but has now emerged as favourite for the overall World Cup. His victory in Kitzbuhel, in 1min 17.33sec, was all the more impressive as he beat two of the best Super-G racers, Austrian Georg Streitberger and Norway's Olympic champion Aksel-Lund Svindal.
Streitberger, winner in Beaver Creek in the early season, was 0.23sec slower than Kostelic but 0.05sec faster than Svindal.
