Polly Gundry, the reigning champion, goes to Bratton Down this afternoon where she has at least five rides, including Polligana in the ladies' open (3.45).

Rilly Goschen, who is duelling with Gundry for the ladies' championship in which both riders are on the 17-winner mark, partners Chasing The Bride in the race but neither can be expected to trouble Father Tom. Dick Baimbridge's 10-year-old completed a four-timer under promising young rider Claire Allen at Dingley a fortnight ago.

Gundry should win the intermediate (3.10) on River Quoile whose summer jumping campaign has been put on hold. She explained: "I've ridden for River Quoile's owner before but it's all down to Daryl Jacob who won on the horse at Larkhill last time. He suggested that River Quoile should have another run pointing so I could ride him." River Quoile jumped well at the Wiltshire course to win by 15 lengths in a faster time than the ladies' open.

Today's other fixture is at Trecoed where I Am Convinced can make the journey from Surrey to West Wales pay off in the intermediate (4.55). Owner Tim Underwood had a winner there last year with the gambled-on Mister Pepper.

Fixtures: Today: Exmoor at Bratton Down, north Devon. (First race 2.0). Alongside A399, 11m N of South Molton, 3m S of Blackmoor Gate. Pembrokeshire at Trecoed. (2.0). Off M40 at Letterston, 5m S of Fishguard.
