Bailey apologises for 'offensive' remarks
Ryan Bailey has been fined and warned about his future behaviour by Leeds after apologising for tasteless jokes he posted on the internet about the Japanese earthquake and tsunami.
After a meeting with the Rhinos' chief executive, Gary Hetherington, the former Great Britain forward expressed his remorse. "Having reflected on the remarks that appeared on my Facebook page, I can see that they are deeply offensive to those affected by the tragic scenes we have seen in Japan," Bailey said in a statement issued by the club.
Apart from the fine levied by Leeds, he is making a donation to the disaster fund.
Bailey has not played this season because of an operation on a hernia, but he could come into the reckoning at Wakefield on Sunday, along with other recent absentees, Lee Smith, Brett Delaney and Kylie Leuluai.
Leeds' 19-year-old winger Zak Hardaker is also out for six weeks after breaking his thumb in an accident at home.
