Broncos centre Reed opts for England

Yorkshire-born Brisbane Broncos centre Jack Reed has opted to play his international rugby for England.

Reed, who was born in Castleford but moved to Australia with his family two years later, has had a meteoric rise, playing every game for the Broncos in his debut season. "Jack is an outstanding player who has had a great season in the NRL," said the England coach, Steve McNamara.

The 23-year-old Reed said that McNamara had been in regular touch, without putting undue pressure on him. "It was a difficult decision, but my heritage means a lot to me," he said.

Huddersfield go into the Super League play-offs tonight knowing better than most what it takes to beat Warrington. They have defeated the Grand Final favourites in two of their three meetings this season, as well as knocking them out of the play-offs last year. "We've got the better of them twice this year and we're very confident of doing that again," said Huddersfield's captain, Kevin Brown. "But we know what we're up against – a really good side."

That side is likely to include two key forwards included by Tony Smith in his squad. Adrian Morley made his comeback after a nine-match absence in the victory over Wigan two weeks ago. He then had an operation on an eye muscle that had been causing double vision and sat out last week's win at Hull that clinched the League Leaders' Shield, but is in line to lead from the front again this evening.

David Solomona, a specialist substitute, limped out of the game at Hull with a leg injury, but he too is named.

The Giants will be without Leroy Cudjoe, who damaged a knee in the defeat by Leeds last weekend. David Hodgson is in line for a recall to replace him, althoughJamie Simpson, injured for most of the season, is also in the squad.

Hunslet have decided not to renew the contract of their player-coach, Paul March. David Seeds is leaving the coaching job at Whitehaven, where Cumbria are to play Samoa on 16 October.
