Broncos lose loan pair back to Bulls

London Broncos' hopes of reaching the Super League play-offs have suffered another blow with Bradford recalling Paul Sykes and Robert Parker.

The two have been on loan to the Broncos for nine weeks and had been expected to stay until the end of the season.

"It was a bit unexpected from our point of view," the London coach Tony Rea said. "They have done really well for us."

He added: "Maybe Paul and Robert overachieved with us and reminded the Bulls of what good players they are."

The Broncos need to win their four remaining games to have a chance of making the play-offs. In place of the departed pair, Marvin Golden and Michael Gillett are both fit to return for the home game with Huddersfield this Sunday.

Adrian Vowles may have played his last game for Castleford. The Tigers' captain, whose signing is expected to be announced by Leeds this week, has been told that the hamstring strain that kept him out of the meeting between the two clubs on Saturday could rule him out for another three weeks. Vowles, who says he does not want to leave, has been offered reduced terms after five successful seasons, including winning the 1999 Man of Steel award.

Castleford's 34-year-old prop Dean Sampson, is set to sign for another season. The current campaign was to be his last, but his coach, Graham Steadman, is keen for him to carry on.

Wakefield have appealed against the remaining two of the four Super League points they were deducted for breaching their salary cap last season.
