Crusaders confirm Sammut is staying

The coach of Crusaders, Iestyn Harris, has dismissed any possibility of Jarrod Sammut leaving the club to join Hull. The Australian half-back scored the crucial try in the Welsh side's 20-12 win at Widnes in their first pre-season match on Sunday, underlining his value as a potential match-winner.

"Hull have made contact, but we have put that story to bed," said Harris. "They want a third half-back but it won't be Jarrod. He wants to stay and I'm expecting him to have a very big season for us." The Penrith player, who arrived midway through last season, has two years left on his contract.

Harris also predicted big things this season from the former Wakefield prop, Richard Moore, who impressed on his debut at Widnes. "He has more to give to the game of rugby league than he has given so far," he said.

Crusaders have released Lewis Mills, who will play for South Wales Scorpions this year. Matt Orford has agreed a two-year deal with Canberra Raiders, subject to the club agreeing compensation with Bradford.
