Round-Up: Blake Green crushes Robins to keep Wigan on top

Wigan ensured that they would finish the Easter programme on top of Super League with an overwhelming 84-6 victory at Hull KR yesterday.

The former Rovers stand-off Blake Green led the way with a hat-trick of tries against his former club, with the prolific Pat Richards contributing 28 points to the massive total.

Boosted by victory over local rivals Hull on Good Friday, three days later the Robins paid the price of fielding a weakened team, with a number of players injured or rested, and found Wigan in a ruthless mood.

There were plenty of points as well at Huddersfield, where the Giants put Friday's shock loss at Salford to one side with a 62-6 thumping of Widnes. Aaron Murphy, who could not get into the side in the early weeks of the season, was the destroyer-in-chief with three tries, while Danny Brough, who was scathing about the performance at Salford, did his bit with nine goals.

Widnes were another side who paid the penalty for juggling a thin squad, coach Denis Betts making six changes to the team that surprisingly beat Warrington.

Josh Perry scored his first tries for St Helens – two of them in the 48-18 defeat of bottom club Castleford. Joe Greenwood was another Saints forward who grabbed a pair.

Bradford kept up their momentum with a 36-24 win over Salford, who are expected to name Brian Noble as their new coach this week.
