Today provided a positive feast of point-scoring in Super League, especially at Huddersfield, where the Giants went second with a 50-30 win over Hull Kingston Rovers.

Joe Wardle and Shaun Lunt scored two tries apiece and the outstanding Danny Brough contributed nine goals for Huddersfield.

There were almost as many points at Wakefield, where Warrington could not quite shake the Wildcats off until Brett Hodgson's late drop goal clinched a 41-34 win to take the Wolves into third place. Ryan Atkins, Stefan Ratchford and Joel Monaghan all scored two tries each, as did Paul Sykes for Wakefield.

A change of coach brought a change of fortune on Saturday for Castleford, who sacked Ian Millward in midweek. Under the interim charge of Danny Orr, the Tigers ended a run of seven Super League defeats by beating Widnes 28-26 at Wheldon Road. The game turned on late tries from Jordan Thompson and Adam Milner, the latter triggered by a quite brilliant pass from Rangi Chase.

Salford announced Brian Noble as their new coach and then proceeded to lose 24-18 to Hull. Richard Whiting was the star for Hull, playing the unfamiliar role of second row and scoring two tries and making another.

Catalan Dragons produced their best display of the season to win 22-12 at St Helens, while Joel Moon scored two tries in Leeds' 30-6 victory over London Broncos at Headingley.
