Wakefield start to rebuild after takeover

Crisis club Wakefield are out of administration, if not out of the woods, with the completion of their takeover by a local businessman.

Andrew Glover, through his company Spirit of 1873, finalised the buy-out with the administrators running the club last night. "It has been tough for the last few weeks but now we've got there," said Glover. "The security of the club is now solid and everyone can concentrate on doing their jobs."

Trinity, who have lost three key players to other clubs this week, have begun their rebuilding by signing three players on loan – Kyle Amor from Leeds and the Huddersfield pair of Josh Griffin and Greg Johnson. They have not come on board, however, in time to play in tomorrow's fixture at Catalan Dragons.

Earlier yesterday, 30 administrative staff were made redundant. Many of them are expected to be re-employed by the new regime.

One small piece of good news for Wakefield is that their utility back Aaron Murphy has succeeded in his appeal against a two-match suspension for a dangerous throw, lift and drop against Castleford in Cardiff. He is now available for the match against the Dragons in Perpignan tomorrow.

The Salford hooker Wayne Godwin has failed in his appeal against a two-game ban for punching.
