Gavignet rescued on Route du Rhum

Oman Air Majan skipper Sidney Gavignet was rescued after reporting he had major damage on the third day of the singlehanded Route du Rhum Race from St.Malo to Guadeloupe , to the front beam and had been dismasted. His 105-foot trimaran was sailing upwind in 20 knots.

Gavignet activated his distress beacon but was not injured. Race director Jean Maurel alerted the Portuguese rescue service.
