WrestleMania 32 comment: Move over Triple H v Roman Reigns, Brock Lesnar vs Dean Ambrose is real main event

WWE’s WrestleMania 32 card is beginning to take shape and the Triple H vs. Roman Reigns and The Undertaker vs. Shane McMahon bouts are scheduled to headline the show. This means that Brock Lesnar vs. Dean Ambrose won’t main event this year’s extravaganza, which is a big mistake.

In the build-up to WWE’s Fastlane pay-per-view, the most fascinating narrative wasn’t Reigns’ quest to reclaim the WWE World Heavyweight Championship from the clutches of Triple H. Rather, it was the escalation of the rivalry between Lesnar and Ambrose - two of the WWE’s hottest stars.

This developing story has had the WWE Universe endlessly cheering the duo – who are undoubtedly very over with the audience - and licking their lips at the prospect of their proposed Street Fight at ‘Mania.

Ambrose vs Lesnar is shaping up to be a WrestleMania main event quality bout with an intriguing feud that has had fans fixated from the very beginning. To further push this rivalry, WWE must continue to blend Ambrose’s aggressive style with Lesnar’s brawling ability – especially as their match will have no rules. If all of these aspects are consistently implemented on the Road to WrestleMania, there is no doubt that this feud will reach its potential and culminate with a show-stealing match at the event.

The Undertaker vs. Shane McMahon will be taking place inside Satan’s Structure: Hell in a Cell. Should “The Phenom” win then The Authority will remain in control of Monday Night Raw. However, if “Shane-O-Mac” is victorious then he will gain control of WWE’s flagship weekly television programme.

Hell in a Cell is the perfect stipulation to end a feud. Wait. Hold on. What feud? This match has no story and currently lacks direction. The Undertaker will be representing Vince McMahon, the biggest antagonist of them all. But does that mean he will be portrayed as a heel? It’s not quite clear yet. Recently on Raw, “The Deadman” returned to issue a frightening warning to Vince: “You know what's gonna happen when I close that door behind me at WrestleMania,” The Undertaker said to the chairman while grabbing him by the throat. “You know what I do. The blood of your son is going to be on your hands, not mine.” In vintage Vince style, the boss then explained to the WWE Universe that he plans to renounce his son Shane.

The announcement of this match came from outta nowhere like an RKO in mid-air from Randy Orton. It shows the extent that the company is willing to go to compensate for John Cena, who will miss WrestleMania 32 because of a shoulder injury.

While Shane’s first scheduled wrestling match in six years has created a buzz on social media, it’s completely illogical and was booked to help pack the AT&T Stadium in Dallas to its capacity of 105,000 fans - a sell-out would set an all-time WrestleMania attendance record.

Moving on, the scheduled WWE World Heavyweight Championship match between Triple H and Roman Reigns comes with its own problems too. This rivalry has been building ever since Reigns refused to join The Authority late last year in Manchester, England. There’s just two big issues: it’s become the feud that wrestling fans love to hate and one they are tired of seeing. Rather ironically, while plans are in place for Reigns to become the company’s next big babyface, he has been mercilessly jeered by fans for the past several months. On the other hand, “The Game” has been receiving some huge pops since returning at the Royal Rumble last January.

Two years ago, Brock Lesnar shocked the world when he ended The Undertaker’s legendary WrestleMania streak. Lesnar is WWE’s biggest star and as long as “The Beast Incarnate” is a member of the active roster it only makes sense that the main event revolves around him, especially at a time when talent is thin due to the company’s current injury crisis.

Whether the WWE, Vince McMahon, the fans or anyone else realises it or not, the headline bout of WrestleMania 32 is Brock Lesnar vs. Dean Ambrose. The formula to a record breaking ‘Mania is Brock Lesnar and WWE don’t need an advocate to tell them that. Actually, in this case maybe they do. So Paul Heyman, could you please constantly repeat Brock Lesnarrrr’s name with extreme emphasis so the hierarchy can understand? Cheers Paul.
