After John Cena once again stood victorious at the end of last week’s Raw, what will become of the former WWE Champion in his quest to exact revenge over Brock Lesnar? And will Roman Reigns be punished by Triple H for his behaviour on last week's episode?
Last week on Raw: John Cena returned for the first time following his brutal loss to Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam. Showing absolutely no effects from said beating, Cena vowed to ‘beat Brock Lesnar’s ass’ at Night of Champions, where he is invoking his rematch clause for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Cena ended the night in full on invincible mode, first dominating Bray Wyatt in a singles match where he hit numerous German suplexes as Lesnar did to him at SummerSlam, then, following interference from the Wyatt family and a save from the newly formed Mark Henry/Big Show tag team, scoring the win in the six man main event, tapping out Erick Rowan to the STF before delivering Attitude Adjustments to both Luke Harper and Bray Wyatt.
The other main talking points were Seth Rollins and Kane’s eulogy for the ‘Missing in Action’ Dean Ambrose which was rudely interrupted by Roman Reigns, kicking off the next feud between former Shield members, Goldust and Cody Rhodes surprising heel turn following a count out victory over The Uso’s and Nikki Bella telling her twin sister that she wished she had ‘died in the womb’ which just wasn’t called for.
What can we expect this week? Storyline COO Triple H has hinted he may well punish Roman Reigns for his behaviour last week, which hopefully won’t mean a series of matches with Kane. Chris Jericho hosts an edition of ‘The Highlight Reel’ with his special guest none other than ‘The Viper’ Randy Orton, so expect them to end up exchanging blows rather than anecdotes.
AJ Lee and Paige’s bizarre feud should continue, with the latest twist being AJ presenting Paige with a box of chocolates on Smackdown that weren’t quite to Paige’s taste. Nikki Bella should somehow try and top wishing death on her twin sister and John Cena (who somehow has not been caught up in his girlfriend’s feud with her sibling) will likely tell us all he never gives up, loves the WWE and will die before letting Brock Lesnar keep the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, before beating an opponent in double quick time.
With any luck Paul Heyman and Brock Lesnar will make some form of appearance be it via satellite or in the arena. And will The Dust Brothers explain why they have turned to the dark side?
Anticipation levels: Moderate
