Kraft Nabisco Championship 2014: Charley Hull storms into contention with stunning six-under-par 66 to trail by two shots

Hull is in joint-third heading into the final day's play

English teenager Charley Hull stormed into contention at the Kraft Nabisco Championship with a stunning six-under-par 66 in the third round on Saturday.

The 18-year-old from Kettering secured herself a share of third spot - two shots adrift of American pair Michelle Wie and Lexi Thompson - with a bogey-free third round at Mission Hills Country Club in California.

"I hit it quite well," said Hull, who was tied on eight under par overall with five-time major champion Se Ri Pak of South Korea. "My irons were pretty good and I hit some good drives.

"I hit some bad drives toward the end, which I'm working on on the range. But I holed good putts my when I got myself in trouble. I was able to get out of it. I'm pretty happy with how it's going."

The Solheim Cup star showed few signs of nerves as she got herself in the hunt to become the youngest major winner in LPGA Tour history.

"I enjoy it, being good young," she added on http://www.lpga.com. "There are a lot of great young players coming up, especially Lydia (Ko), Lexi and everyone.

"But I think age is just a number. I think it's more about experience."

Wie and Thompson will both also be seeking their maiden major crowns on Sunday, having moved to 10 under on Saturday with rounds of 68 and 69, respectively.

"I'm really excited I'm going into Sunday tied for the lead," said 19-year-old Thompson, whose round would have been even better had she not three-putted on the 18th for bogey.

"Obviously, you're going to be a little nervous. I think if you're not nervous, you don't care. But it's a good nervous.

"This is what I've been waiting for and what I've worked my whole life for. So I'm really looking forward to (Sunday)."

Wie, 24, said after her flawless 68: "I'm definitely a lot more appreciative of where I am going in with the lead.

"I think I definitely am not as wide-eyed as I used to be, which could be a good thing or a bad thing. But, at the same time, I'm really happy with where I am right now."

Scotland's Catriona Matthew (70) and American Cristie Kerr (71) were joint fifth, two shots adrift of Hull and Pak.
