The first players to tee off are just about half way through at the moment, and it's Bernd Wiesberger who is setting the pace at the top, as the only player two under par. Another 11 players, including defending champions Jordan Spieth (four holes), Rickie Fowler (six holes) and Lee Westwood (six holes) are a shot under.

Steven Bowditch is having a tough time and is already five shots over par after 12 holes, but none of the big names are suffering just yet.

Jordan Spieth (-4) remains in front but the Texan's not had it all his own way over the course of the last hour.A loose tee shot on the 11th landed among the pine needles, leaving him with quite a job on.

Not to worry. He somehow, quite brilliantly, finds the left fringe of green and effortlessly put to save par, thereby retaining his two shot lead.

Paul Casey, Hideki Matsuyama, Daniel Berger and Keegan Bradley trail him on two-under, while Dustin Johnson and Lee Westwood are among the chasing pack on -1.

Spieth birdies the 13th - moves to five under through 14. Superb effort in tricky conditions.

Westwood will be angry, drops shot on 18 to finish at one under.

Spieth has to settle for par on par 5 15th. Remains 5 under. Chance missed - these boys always fancy themselves to pick up shots on the par 5s

Amazing tee shot from Casey (3 under) at par 3 16th. Falls and stops just yards from pin.Spieth follows but makes a hash of it. Way off target but misses bunker. Work to do to make par

Rory McIlroy pars the first - solid start in quest for the Grand Slam. Meanwhile, America's Rickie Fowler is 7 over on the 17th

Jason Day on the charge. Another birdie for the Aussie to move to three under after 5.Paul Casey taps in at 16 to go to four under after his top tee shot. Brilliant from Jordan Spieth as he rescues par with nice chip and ballsy putt. Spieth -5, Casey -4, Day -3

Rory McIlroy birdies the second. Cream rising to the top already
