Sergio Garcia beat Justin Rose in a dramatic play-off for the Masters on Sunday, to win his first ever major championship.

Rose had overturned an early three-stroke deficit to lead by a shot after 16 holes, but bogeyed the 17th and then failed to convert a birdie attempt from seven feet on the last.

That left Garcia with a putt to win his first major title at the 74th attempt, but his putt from five feet slid past the hole and left the Ryder Cup team-mates tied on nine under par.

However Garcia held his nerve to win the play-off, on the day that Spanish golfing great Seve Ballesteros would have celebrated his 60th birthday.

Els (+14):

Els reaches the Flowering Peach green in two following a sweet 215-yard drive down the centre of the fairway before some impressive approach play lands him within six yards of the pin. Putt for birdie to follow.

His putt comes up short forcing the South African to settle for another par.

Mize (+12) & Leishman (+10):

A simple six-foot putt for Mize hands the American a birdie on the second. Leishman similarly takes the par-five in four shots.

Luck (+9) & Hahn (+8):

Thumbs up for James Hahn, thumbs down for Curtis Luck. The American takes the first hole, a par-four, in three but the Australian makes bogey after missing his first putt for par.

Sullivan (+8) & Wiesberger (+8):

A good hole for Sullivan and Wiesberger on the second. The former found the bunker with his second shot but he splashed out to land within eight feet of the pin, which he subsequently sank for birdie.

As for Wiesberger, the Austrian came within three feet of two-under but it wasn't to be. A simple tap-in followed and he too walked away with a birdie.

Oosthuizen (+8) & Hadwin (+8):

Louis Oosthuizen comes close to making birdie following a neat recovery shot onto the green that rolls within two-feet of the pin. He sinks it settles for par on the first hole.

Adam Hadwin also passes on the opportunity for a birdie as his 28-foot putt rolls to the right of the pin. He does the rest. Par.

Els (+15):

Setback for Els on the fourth. After finding the bunker with his first shot, the South African put himself within seven feet of the pin to give himself a good chance of making par. He overhit, though, forcing him to settle for bogey. It's not been his week.

Sullivan (+8) & Wiesberger (+9):

Sullivan holds out for par on the fourth but his partner misjudges the terrain of the green to overhit his putt. Bogey for Wiesberger.

Els (+16):

It's gone from bad to worse for Els on the sixth. After taking two shots to get within nine feet of the hole, the South African looked on course for a par. But once again he came up short and was forced to settle for a second successive bogey.

Oosthuizen (+7) & Hadwin (+7):

The South African is another one to find the bunker on the second but a lovely splash-out puts him within eight-feet. He makes it to record one-under.

Hadwin, from the tee, finds the bunker on the right-hand side of the fairway and looks to be in danger of falling behind his partner. But an impressive second and third shot salvages matters. From three-feet out, he sinks it to make birdie.

Kisner (+6) and An (+6):

Kevin Kisner and Byeong Hun An both enjoy a strong start as they each make birdie on the first hole.

Els (+15):

Up on the seventh, Els is back down to +15 after taking the par-four in three shots. His play on the green has been off the mark so far but a lovely 25-foot putt makes up for his earlier mistakes.
