The Wallabies, who have experienced mixed results so far in Japan, are looking to return to the top of Pool D with a victory over their South American opponents.

Although Australia currently find themselves a point behind Fiji, they have a game in hand on the Pacific Islanders and are expected to come through the clash with Uruguay without too much difficulty, with a final win over Georgia enough to take them through to the quarter-finals. This should be simple enough for Australia. The Wallabies are hoping to get back on track after that narrow defeat to Wales, while Uruguay appear to have had their crowning 2019 World Cup moment with that remarkable win over Fiji, and anything more would be a bonus at this point. Los Teros will not be cowed by the might of the Australian side, though, and they have the ability to make this a sticky little affair in Oita if Australia stumble out of the blocks.

Australia ring the changes, with Michael Cheika opting to give some of the fringe members of his squad game time against Uruguay.

Exciting back Jordan Petaia makes his Wallabies debut on the wing and will provide pace and power out wide, while it is an Australian team with three distributors - Lealiafano, To'omua and Beale will look to shift the ball wide and cause damage in wider confines.

A couple of changes to this Australia squad that have been announced this morning - Jack Dempsey and Lukhan Salakia-Loto swap numbers, while James O'Connor drops out of the squad, with Samu Kerevi taking the 22 jersey.

Jordan Petaia makes his Australia debut today, and it is mark of how highly rated the precocious wing talent is that he is able to debut at a World Cup. A freak athlete with pace and power, Petaia was called up to the Australia squad last year for the autumn internationals but injury robbed him of a potential first cap, and his season in Super Rugby was impacted by a couple of injuries, too.

But he earned a call up to the Australia squad regardless, and can press for inclusion in more consequential contests today. Petaia's long-term home may be outside centre, but Michael Cheika seems rather excited about his potential on the wing, and rightly so. With considerable rugby nous to complement natural physical gifts, look out for Petaia in defence and attack today.
