McLaren-Honda driver Fernando Alonso has been pictured walking out of a Spanish hospital.

The Spaniard crashed during testing on Sunday in Barcelona, emerging from the high-speed Turn Three when his car, which he was driving for just the fourth time,veered right and collided with the barrier in a side-impact.

But Spanish journalist Albert Fabrega pictured the moment Alonso walked out of the hospital on Wednesday afternoon.

Alonso's manager Luis Garcia Abad was quoted as saying: "Fernando is fine, he will go home and rest. He will return soon to the track when ready."

McLaren confirmed that Alonso will not run in the third and final four-day test session, due to take place in Barcelona from Thursday. Third driver Kevin Magnussen will take his place, while Jenson Button will definitely drive on the first day.

The 33-year-old was taken by ambulance to the Circuit de Catalunya medical centre on Sunday night, before being a airlifted to a local hospital for a CT and MRI scan.

McLaren announced on Sunday night that Alonso had not suffered a serious injury, and confirmed that he would remain in hospital overnight “as a precaution” having suffered a concussion.
