Isle of Man TT 2015: Jamie Hamilton crash causes Senior race to be red flagged as Suzuki rider is taken to Nobles Hospital

The 2015 Isle of Man TT Senior race was red flagged after a lap after Jamie Hamilton was involved in a serious accident near the 11th milestone of the Mountain Course.

The 24-year-old Northern Irishman was taken by airmed to Nobles hospital, race organisers confirmed, having crashed shortly after the Cronk-y-Voddy straight on the run towards Molyneuxs.

The official iomtt.com Twitter account confirmed: “Jamie Hamilton rider involved in incident - taken by airmed to Nobles for treatment #iomtt.”

An update was given on his condition shortly after the restart of the Senior, where officials confirmed that Hamilton had suffered "serious injuries but not life threatening at this stage".

Mark Dawson, who was watching from the area, was reported by the BBC to have said: "It was a massive tank slapper. He hit the tree on the far side and his bike disintegrated in a big fireball."

The Cookstown Burrows Engineering Racing Suzuki rider was running just outside the top 10 at the time of his accident, which required road sweepers to clean the race surface before the restart could take place.

At the time of the stoppage, Ian Hutchinson was leading the race having completed a lap and a half of the six lap Senior race, although he held a slender 1.7 second lead over Honda Racing’s John McGuinness.

Once the race restarted, McGuinness powered to a 23rd victory around the Isle of Man, breaking the outright lap record in the process.
