Lewis Hamilton won the season-ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix to secure his second Drivers' Championship after holding off the challenge of his Mercedes team-mate Nico Rosberg.
After four years of domination from Red Bull and Sebastian Vettel, it was Mercedes who emerged as the power force that would go on to dominate the 2014 season, with Hamilton and Rosberg regularly competing for race wins.
Williams posed the biggest threat to them towards the end of the season, but it was the Red Bull of Daniel Ricciardo who was the only man to disrupt Mercedes' dominance as he won three grand prix's in just his forst year with the team after serving his apprenticeship with Toro Rosso.
Past champions Fernando Alonso, Jenson Button and Kimi Raikkonen didn't enjoy the best of season's, but a number of young guns emerged as potential world champions of the future in the likes of Valterri Bottas, Kevin Magnussen and Daniil Kvyat.
So how did each driver rate now that the season is over?

Had he not made the error in Brazil that allowed Rosberg to take victory, it could well have been a perfect 10 for Hamilton.

Perhaps that’s not so bad given Mercedes dominated the season, but his new team-mate Ricciardo won three times, and simply it’s been a case of not good enough from Seb. He’ll hope the grass is greener at Ferrari next season.

He was rewarded for his excellent drives with three victories in Canada, Hungary and Belgium, and he fully warrants his third place in the Drivers’ Championship.

He dominated his team-mate, the 2007 world champion, and he can still be pleased with a number of his performances this season.

Two third-place finishes – the best in Brazil in front of his home fans – made up for a few retirements and nasty crashes, though they weren’t of his doing.

The Finn is showing why he is rated so highly and he has a phenomenally calm head on his shoulders. His drive in Austria was a particular highlight.

Button has out-performed Magnussen in the Drivers’ Championship and started with a bang as he secured third in Australia, and a strong end to the season could still see him remain for 2015.
