The Olympic flame will be carried through two of the country's great cathedral cities today.

The torch relay will start in Reading, Berkshire, for its 105-mile journey through Winchester, Hampshire, ending in Salisbury, Wiltshire.

The first torchbearer of the day will be Lee Umpleby, from Reading, who will start with the flame at Caversham Court Gardens in the city.

The 34-year-old was nominated by Reading City Council for his outstanding work as a community police officer.

The last torchbearer of the day, Dolly Burnett, 49, from Salisbury, was put forward by Salisbury City Council for her voluntary work with young people.

Kirstie Nash, from Winchester, will also carry the flame to Winchester Cathedral.

The 18-year-old was nominated for the help and support she gives to her disabled sister.

An Olympics spokesman said: "She really is the opposite of the stereotypical teenager as she is hard working, selfless, caring and kind."

The evening celebration taking place at Hudson Fields, Salisbury, will feature music from chart-topping Wretch 32, Salisbury Military Wives and other local dance and music acts.

Towards the end of the two-hour show, the last torchbearer of the day, Ms Burnett, will light a celebration cauldron on stage at the event which will enable the Olympic flame to be seen by the audience.
