Oscar Pistorius will bid to seal a place in the Olympic Games during the South African trials, starting in Port Elizabeth on Friday.

The "Blade Runner", who has two prosthetic legs, has already run inside the 45.30-second benchmark for the Games, recording 45.20sec last month and he must do so again to qualify. All athletes who wish to compete for South Africa have to take part in the trials.

Dave Roberts, 11 times a gold medallist, will not overtake Tanni Grey-Thompson as Britain's most successful Paralympian. The swimmer, who equalled Grey-Thompson's tally in 2008, has been left out of the team for London after failing to make the qualifying time.
