Racing: Laytown's future in doubt
The future of beach racing at Laytown in Ireland is in doubt after a spate of horse deaths at the evening fixture there on Thursday. Racing authorities are currently carrying out an investigation. The mayhem started in the opening race when Five Little Girls crashed to the ground, bringing down three others. She had to be put down and another broke her neck when she fell over the leader. A third died after a collision with one of the loose horses after the winning post. Ten jockeys were injured in total after horses fell in other races.
