Bath insist Kyle Eastmond will be staying at the Recreation Ground following reports that he was considering returning to rugby league.

The England centre was substituted at half-time of last weekend's 27-20 LV= Cup win at Sale and immediately left the ground.

It is understood that Eastmond, who won two caps during the summer tour to Argentina, is dealing with personal issues.

The 24-year-old is reported to have said he wanted to leave union, but Bath have issued a statement declaring that he remains their player.

"Contrary to current reports, Bath Rugby can confirm that Kyle Eastmond is still in contract with the club and is very much part of the squad," the statement read.

"An incident arose at the Sale game last Friday which has led to an internal investigation, but this has been dealt with and both parties have put the matter behind them.

"The club will be making no further comment on this matter."

Eastmond, who switched codes in 2011 after signing a three-year contract with Bath, has been omitted from the 23 for Sunday's LV= Cup tie against Exeter.
