Heineken Cup round-up: Glasgow Warriors show no mercy in fightback

Glasgow Warriors gave themselves an outside chance of pipping Cardiff Blues for second place in Heineken Cup Pool Two when they hit back from 10-0 down to win 15-10 at Exeter.

The Chiefs got off to a flying start. Henry Slade kicked them in front with a third-minute penalty and Chiefs' pressure paid off after 15 minutes when the wing Fetu'u Vainikolo burrowed through a mass of players for a try that Slade converted.

Warriors, however, hit straight back, taking advantage of the Chiefs having two players receiving treatment to send the Scotland and Lions wing Sean Maitland over.

Five minutes before the interval Glasgow's other Scotland wing, Sean Lamont, back after a six-week injury absence, touched down. Stuart Hogg converted from out wide and added a penalty 10 minutes after the break.

Luciano Oquera kicked Zebre into a 15th-minute lead at Connacht but normal service was resumed at Galway and the Irish side romped to a 20-3 victory in Pool Three.

Jack Carty led the way with a couple of penalties in the next 15 minutes and the wing Matt Healy ensured that there would be no slip-ups by going over for a try that Carty converted with five minutes remaining before the interval.

A couple of minutes after the restart the centre Robbie Henshaw went over and Carty wrapped up the scoring with the conversion.

Bath secured their place in the quarter-finals of the Amlin Challenge Cup with a 30-13 victory away to Newport-Gwent Dragons in Pool Two.

Micky Young set Bath on their way with a try after six minutes, followed by scores from Tom Biggs, Mat Gilbert and Leroy Houston.

Wing Andrew Fenby scored a hat-trick of tries as London Irish romped past Lusitanos 79-3 in Pool Five.
