Heineken Cup round-up: Williams double keeps Ospreys flying in Italy

Shane Williams and Justin Marshall scored two tries each for the Ospreys in Calvisano in a 50-27 win in Pool Three of the Heineken Cup. Huw Bennett, James Hook, Lee Byrne and Sonny Parker also scored tries, Hook kicking five conversions. Also in Italy, Northampton put 10 tries past Overmach Parma to win 68-21 in Pool Six, Sean Lamont and Paul Diggin scoring twice.

In Pool One, Castres beat Perpignan 36-28, putting pressure on Wasps to beat Treviso with a bonus point at Adams Park today. In Pool Two, a Brian O'Driscoll hat-trick helped Leinster to a 26-10 win over Agen and a bonus point in the last European fixture at the old Lansdowne Road.

In Pool Four of the European Challenge Cup, two tries from Nick Abendanon and one from Joe Maddock, added to the fruits of Olly Barkley's boot, helped Bath to a 24-18 win at Harlequins, for whom Adrian Jarvis kicked six penalties. In Pool Five, at Sixways, Worcester strolled to a 29-0 win over Albi. Brive beat Petrarca 78-18 at home in Pool Three.

England went out of the IRB Sevens in George, South Africa, in the semi-final, losing 10-7 to the hosts. South Africa then lost 24-7 to New Zealand in the final. Wales won the plate by beating Tunisia 26-5.
