Six Nations 2013: Wales boosted by Gethin Jenkins' return ahead of England showdown

Gethin Jenkins, the highly influential loose-head prop who has started five of the last six Tests played by the British and Irish Lions and featured in all three Grand Slams secured by Wales in the professional era, returned to full training today and could make the starting line-up for this Saturday's Six Nations meeting with England at the Millennium Stadium. Jenkins missed the victory over Scotland at Murrayfield three days ago because of a calf injury.

The Welsh camp believe their rich experience of big-occasion rugby in recent years will stand them in good stead against visitors who may start with only four survivors of the failed Slam attempt in Dublin two years ago. "Most of our players have been involved in a Grand Slam game – some in two, some in three," said Shaun Edwards, the home side's defence coach. "They've also played in a World Cup semi-final and I'm just hoping all that will help us in what will be a huge match."

If Jenkins is recalled by the reigning champions, he will replace the Bath prop Paul James in the front row. Rob Howley, the acting head coach, confirms his line-up on Thursday.
