Premiership: Chris Robshaw given all-clear after Harlequins’ defeat angers director of rugby Connor O’Shea

Chris Robshaw’s half-time exit from Harlequins’ 18-13 defeat to London Irish is nothing to worry about, claimed Conor O’Shea, the director of rugby.

Two late tries from Blair Cowan and Alex Lewington swung the Premiership game in the Exiles’ favour on Saturday after Quins had dominated. On the England captain Robshaw’s withdrawal, O’Shea said: “Chris informed me that he had a knock on the head. He wanted to give more but I could see he was struggling.”

He added: “In the first half we had nearly all the territory and possession but we had inaccuracies all over the place. I’m really frustrated. You can’t play with such lack of precision.”

Saracens kept up their 100 per cent start as they beat Wasps 19-12. Mark McCall, the Saracens director of rugby, made 11 changes from last week but it took Owen Farrell’s introduction at half time to give the north Londoners’ control. Will Fraser, back after five-months out with a shoulder injury, scored Saracens’ only try. “ We rolled up our sleeves and won comfortably in the end, it’s job done,” McCall said.

Worcester are still without a Premiership win since March, after losing 16-11  to Newcastle. The head coach, Dean Ryan, said: “ Losing games, and the manner we lost against Newcastle and London Irish [last week], saps confidence, but I am not going to get into the excuse culture.”

Edinburgh, whose points all came from the boot of Greig Laidlaw, stay bottom of the RaboDirect Pro12 after a 29-12 defeat at Cardiff, for whom Alex Cuthbert scored two tries. Glasgow remain top after a 17-12 win over Scarlets on Saturday. They are two points ahead of Munster, who beat Leinster for the first time in two years, winning 19-15.
