Andy and Jamie Murray were knocked out of the ATP BNP Paribas Open doubles at the quarter-final stage on Wednesday night by Alexandr Dolgopolov and Xavier Malisse.

The Scottish brothers looked to be on course for the last four at Indian Wells when they took the first set on the tie-break, but Ukraine's Dolgopolov and Belgium's Malisse battled back to triumph 6-7 (7/9) 6-3 10-8.

The result ended a promising run by the Murrays in California following victories over Brazilian pair Marcelo Melo and Bruno Soares and American duo John Isner and Sam Querrey.

It was the second successive round that Dolgopolov and Malisse had seen off a set of brothers following their triumph over American top seeds Bob and Mike Bryan.
