SW19 Diary: Three Brits, one left in doubles

There were three Britons in action on Centre Court yesterday, albeit all of them in one match. Colin Fleming and his partner Hsieh Su-wei of Taipei beat the all-British pairing of Laura Robson and Dominic Inglot in straight sets, winning two tie breaks to reach the quarter-finals of the mixed doubles.

Williams, a RAF Lover under cover

The most famous tennis parent, Richard Williams, was sporting an appropriate piece of head gear for the aerial bombardment his daughter Serena unleashed on Victoria Azarenka yesterday. Williams chose a Royal Air Force cap to shade him from that rarest of Wimbledon sightings this week, the sun.

Marray couldn't have it tougher

Jonathan Marray, or Not Quite Murray as he's better known, and his Danish partner Frederik Nielsen will have to overcome the toughest challenge in doubles tennis if they are to reach the final. Their semi-final is against the Bryan brothers, who are chasing a 12th Grand Slam title. This will be the Americans' 28th Slam semi. Wild card Marray has only been beyond the first round of a Slam five times.

Mrs Radwanska's final celebration

It cannot be easy being a sporting parent – one Olympian father once told me he hated watching his daughter race as he went through agonies – so it is vital to enjoy the good times. Which is no doubt why Agnieszka Radwanska's mother celebrated her daughter's semi-final victory yesterday at Wimbledon's champagne bar in the company of Judy Murray, who was no doubt calming nerves ahead of this afternoon.
