Apart from Andy Murray's convincing victory against Benjamin Becker yesterday, it's been a sorry (and all too familiar) tale of woe for Britain's other hopes at Wimbledon.

Heather Watson has become the latest player to be knocked out in the first round and with only one player aside from Murray winning a set, it could be labelled an embarrassment.

Here, we chart against who, and how quickly, Britain's hopes were extinguished...

Men's Singles

Wildcard entry Kyle Edmund lost 6-2, 6-2, 6-4 to the 22nd seed Jerzy Janowicz in 1hr 27mins.

Britain's number two James Ward lost 7-6, 4-6, 7-6, 7-6 to Yen-Hsun Lu ranked 70th in the world in 3hr 35mins.

Women's Singles

Britain's number two Heather Watson, lost 6-3, 7-5 to American Madison Keys in 1hr 16mins

Wildcard entry Anne Keothavong lost 6-4, 6-0 to Spaniard Garbine Muguruza in 1hr 11mins

Wildcard entry Elena Baltacha was the first Brit out as she lost 6-4, 6-1 to Italy's Flavia Pennetta in 1hr 14mins

Johanna Konta, the British number three also had a wildcard, but lost 6-2 7-5 to world number one Jelena Jankovic in 1hr 24mins

Another wildcard entry Samantha Murray lost 6-3, 6-4 to Camila Giorgi in 1hr 19mins

The (sorry) stats

Total Sets won - 2 (both James Ward)

Sets lost - 16

Time on Court- 11hrs 26mins

Is there hope?

Women's number one Laura Robson and wildcard entry Tara Moore are the remaining Brits yet to play.
