Thierry Henry: Striker set to leave the New York Red Bulls, could he return to Arsenal?

Reports in America state that he will leave New York club at the end of this year

Thierry Henry will not be extending his contract with the New York Red Bulls which expires at the end of this year, according to reports in America.

The 37-year-old has not taken a decision on retirement, but a third spell at Arsenal could be way off the mark.

Henry, Arsenal's record goalscorer, has been with the MLS side for four years, since he joined from Barcelona in 2010.

The Frenchman rejoined Arsenal for a second spell on loan in January 2012, scoring two goals.

In total he scored 228 goals and won five major honours with the club, including being an integral member of the 'Invincibles' team in 2004.

Red Bull global head of football, Gerard Houllier, revealed back in July that Henry was preparing for retirement.

"I have an idea [about Henry's intentions]," the former Liverpool manager had said. "I think he wants to retire."
