Super Bowl 2019 trophy presentation

The NFL Draft is one of the most important dates in the calendar year for all 32 teams in the league.

The dust has settled on last season where the New England Patriots collected their sixth Super Bowl championship with victory over the Los Angeles Rams in Super Bowl 53 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.

Now attention turns to next year with the draft, where hopes and dreams begin.

Last year’s failures will look to spark a new era, loaded with a precious early first round pick (or three in total as is the case with the Oakland Raiders), fans place an enormous amount of pressure on the top end of the organisation to pick wisely. No more so than the Arizona Cardinals, who must use the No 1 pick wisely to reinvigorate a franchise on the slide. Oklahoma’s Kyler Murray, who turned his back on a career in MLB with the Oakland Athletics, looks most likely to be the first pick of 2019.

So here’s everything you need to know about this year’s draft.

When is the draft?

The first round is on Thursday, April 25, with the second an third rounds on Friday, April 26 and the fourth to seventh rounds on Saturday, April 27.

What time does the draft start?

The first round starts at 8pm ET (1am GMT) on Thursday. The second round begins at 7pm ET (12am GMT) on Friday, while the fourth and final rounds begin at 12pm ET (5pm GMT) on Saturday.

The draft is being held in Nashville, Tennessee, home of the Titans, for the first time.

Chicago, Philadelphia and Dallas have taken it in turns over the last three years after 14 successive years of New York hosting the iconic event.
