New York Giants players have said that cornerback Prince Amukamara is playing better than ever - because he lost his virginity over the summer.

Amukamara, 25, had abstained from pre-marital sex due to religious beliefs, but got married in the off-season.

Giants team-mate Antrel Rolle believes Amukamara, who already has a career-high two interceptions this season, is playing at an improved level and with "a little more swagger", after the nuptials with Pilar (pictured below).

“There are a lot of things different about Prince,” Rolle, a nine-year veteran, said. “For one, he’s married, so he’s (enjoying some things that he wasn’t experiencing before he’s married).

“For a man, that could definitely help him out. For a man... I’m just being honest... it’s helping him out. He walks around with a little more swagger, which is something that we need, which is something that we love.”

Amukamara called the idea "comical" when asked about the comments by US reporters but admitted he was preparing for his wife to be angry when he got home from practice.

“I know I’m going to have a lot of explaining to do to my wife,” he joked, “because I know her phone’s probably blowing up.”
