There aren't many places where your holiday starts within five minutes of leaving the airport. The hotel is close to everything and yet sufficiently far away enough to feel permanently peaceful - the beach is on your doorstep, the mega clubs, including the legendary Ushuaïa, are within walking distance, and Ibiza Town is 15 minutes by cab or bus. In addition to nightlife, there are great options for birdlife, as it's a five-minute cab hop to the flamingos at World Heritage-listed Ses Salines nature reserve.

By plane: there are direct flights from London (2 hours 30 mins) and Manchester (2 hours 50 mins). The hotel is under ten minutes' drive from the airport. Book flights to Ibiza.

A mosaiced pool ringed by palm trees and low-rise accommodation sits at the heart of the hotel, and social spaces are more contemporary than at the neighbouring sister hotel Grand Palladium Palace. While there's a bit of a buzz about the place and plenty of entertainment on tap, there's also ample space for uninterrupted relaxation.

Guests at this hotel can also make use of the neighbouring Palladium property (connected via a bridge), which means the list of facilities is very long indeed: several pools, a gym, tennis courts, free fitness classes, various dining options, plus nightly entertainment. Staff are super cheerful and go above and beyond to provide exceptional service.

Even the more modest of Grand Palladium White Island's 430 rooms are decently sized and comfortable but aim for one with a view over the beach or pool. Their look is an homage to the Ibizan aesthetic, with touches of tie-dye and bold photographic prints amid neutral décor. Metro-tiled bathrooms are spacious, with aromatic toiletries and big walk-in showers.

Room types: Standard Room, Deluxe Room, Superior Room, Suite, Superior Suite

Key amenities: ensuite bathroom with toiletries, bathrobes and slippers, tea and coffee facilities, minibar, air conditioning, TV, free Wi-Fi

With such a wide range of consumables to choose from, you could easily stay a week and not get bored of the food. There are two buffet options for breakfast, lunch and dinner, plus à la carte Mexican, Italian and Mediterranean restaurants (which must be booked in advance). Night owls will be glad of the 24-hour Sports Bar serving booze, burgers and more.

La Sal: Buffet restaurant with show cooking. International cuisine. All-day menu, open daily.

Portofino: Stylish Mediterranean restaurant. À la carte dining. Open daily for lunch and dinner.
