OUR REVIEW

THE NEIGHBOURHOOD

Reach the hotel in under an hour by hire car from Tenerife North airport and just over an hour if flying into Tenerife South. It's situated on candy-for-the-eye Plaza de la Libertad in central Garachico. The nearby Piscinas Naturales de El Caletón are giant rock pools you can swim in. Restaurante Arístides is just around the corner, an eatery priding itself on a "from the sea to the plate" philosophy.

By plane: flights from London, Birmingham and Manchester to Tenerife take around 4 hours 30 mins. The hotel is a 1 hour 30 minute drive from Tenerife South. Book flights to Tenerife.

THE LOOK AND FEEL

This traditional Canarian property is one of Garachico's most emblematic constructions. This two-storeyed architecture was certainly built to last, withstanding the 18th-century volcanic eruption that destroyed much of the town. Wooden balconies and cane furniture root the hotel in Garachico's glorious past as one of the most prosperous local ports.

THE FACILITIES

While there is not much to do in the hotel other than relax in its glorious splendour, informed staff reveal how perfect a base it is to explore the island. La Quinta Roja partners with local cycling, hiking, and watersports companies so you can get more out of your break.

FOOD AND DRINK

Breakfast inside or out, selecting from a consciously small buffet which takes advantage of its Canary Islands setting to offer local goats' cheese alongside tropical fruit. The acclaimed on-site Restaurante Silogia, open to non-guests, has a tasting menu pairing a fresh take on classic island fare with esteemed Tenerife vintages.
