Overlooking the picture-perfect Blue Flag El Reducto beach, the Arrecife Gran Hotel & Spa enjoys a central position in the Lanzarote capital, and is just six minutes' drive in a hire car from the airport. The flash Marina Lanzarote shopping centre is nearby, along with the more established Escuela de Pesca Lanzarote fishing school and the Museo Internacional de Arte Contemporáneo (MIAC), an art museum housed in an 18th-century fort with a stylish restaurant.

The design is daring as it is the opposite of the island's traditional low-level architecture. Stylistically, it's modern with nods to Lanzarote's cultures and traditions. The ambience is laid back with the open layout of the reception meaning that staff come to where new guests are sitting to check them in.


Service is formal, which is a reflection of the elegance of the clientele. The pool is a relaxed chillout zone with or without a DJ in residence. A romantic getaway package includes cava, suite accommodation, a pair spa circuit, and one dinner for two.

Guest rooms are divided into Avenue (street view) and Ocean (Atlantic vista) types. Essential Suites overlook both settings and feature remote-controlled curtains plus a rainfall shower. The Infinity Suite adds a see-through shower to the mix. Four two-bedroomed Sky Suites named after the elements measure 110 square metres.

A first-floor restaurant offers buffet breakfast and dinner with the latter organized thematically with the likes of Asian, Canarian and Italian nights. Upmarket pool bar La Buena Vida prides itself on its healthy fare whilst top-floor Blue 17 goes big on slow cooking. Ground-level Restaurante Alarz specializes in fusion cuisine.
