OVERVIEW

Lanzarote was not noted for its boutique hotels until the opening of what has become one of Spain's most acclaimed bijou resorts, Lani's Suites De Luxe. Initially planned as an upmarket mall, owner Kumar Dadlani changed tack to reimagine a dream project, restoring the legacy of César Manrique, Lanzarote's premier architect and artist.

OUR REVIEW

THE NEIGHBOURHOOD

Situated below Puerto del Carmen's main strip, the Atlantic setting of Lani's Suites De Luxe is simply stunning. A ten-minute drive along the LZ-40, the hotel became more convenient with the creation of an adjacent shopping centre with parking and restaurants. You can reach Playa Grande within ten minutes on foot. Nearby, you'll find swish tapas joint La Carmencita del Puerto, with a more Mediterranean than Atlantic menu.

By plane: flights from London, Birmingham and Manchester to Lanzarote take around 4 hours 30 mins. The hotel is a ten minute taxi ride from Lanzarote airport. Book flights to Lanzarote.

THE LOOK AND FEEL

A jaunty nautical layout gives the impression you're on a boat. Kumar Dadlani acquired bits and bobs on his round-the-world trip and they adorn the bedrooms and common areas, giving this classic Canarian property a global makeover. Initially conceived by celebrated local architect César Manrique, the original hotel deteriorated till Dadlani breathed new life into it.

THE FACILITIES

The good ship Lani's Suites De Luxe boasts a supremely-able multilingual crew. You can rent B-Twin bikes without charge and the hotel throws in a free picnic. The facilities are stripped back with the concept going big on guaranteeing a relaxed, quiet stay with a health and beauty cabin offering treatments.
