Wizz Air continues its growth from UK airports with a new Birmingham-Poznan link, starting on 18 December, and routes from Aberdeen and Bristol to Warsaw, commencing next May. All these services will operate twice-weekly, and are on sale now. wizzair.com

The New Forest Walking Festival will be on for a fortnight from 17 October. The event, which is led by the New Forest National Park Authority, will offer a number of free and discounted walks, including wildlife walks, history hikes, accessible walks, and family friendly adventures. Carmarthenshire has launched a series of self-guided "Travellers' Triathlons" comprising three suggested routes for active visitors. Sulu Sea alert

A group of tourists was kidnapped this week from a diving boat near a resort on Samai Island in the southern Philippines. After the incident, the Foreign Office warned: "Kidnapping could occur anywhere, including on coastal and island resorts and on dive boats and sites in the Sulu Sea.
