The tour

Ampersand Travel, which specialises in trips to Asia, is launching tailormade trips in the UK, including an art tour of the capital and a week taking in romantic spots in Scotland (ampersandtravel.com).

The book

Design Hotels is celebrating its 20th birthday with a book on its 200-plus members. It's available as an oversize edition with an Alvar Aalto Stool 60 and table (€2,500); the standard book costs €60 (designhotels.com).

The rail route

Istanbul's historic Sirkeci station, former terminus for the Orient Express, closes this weekend due to the Marmara Tunnel project. Trains to and from Bucharest and Sofia will use Halkali, 27km away (seat61.com).
