Travel Agenda: Westin Xian hotel; Amsterdam Fashion Week; Snowdrops by Starlight; Gothenburg's Passion for Food festival
Today: In central China, the Westin Xian hotel opens in the city of Xian. It has a large indoor pool, a Heavenly spa and a Cantonese restaurant. Nearby attractions include the Giant Wild Goose Pagoda and the 14th-century Drum Tower, built during the Ming dynasty. The 8,000-man Terracotta Army is a 30km drive to the east (starwoodhotels.com).
This week: The Dutch capital struts its stuff as Amsterdam Fashion Week starts on Wednesday, until 29 January. Local designers such as Tony Cohen will be showcasing their new collections for the spring/summer 2012 season (amsterdamfashionweek.com).
In the diary: In Scotland, the Cambo Estate, Fife, will hold nine evening "Snowdrops by Starlight" walks through the grounds between 11 and 19 February. The event will weave visitors through blanketed woodland, and past art and sculptures created by local and national artists; tickets £9 (snowdropsbystar light.com). Meanwhile, the Passion for Food festival comes to Gothenburg between 24 and 26 February, with local chefs, regional producers, culinary tips and tasting workshops in the Swedish city's harbourside Eriksberg area (passionformat.se).
