World’s longest continuous cruise set to visit 59 countries in 245 days

Travelling the world on a shoestring might sound romantic, but it’s certainly not realistic, as one new round-the-world cruise trip proves.

The world’s longest continuous cruise is set to depart from London in August 2019 and will last eight months, taking travellers to 59 countries in every continent apart from Antarctica.

However, in order to be one of the lucky 930 passengers embarking on the trip-of-a-lifetime, you’ll need a cool £66,990.

The trip is organised by Norwegian-owned cruise line: Viking and will call at 113 ports over a period of 245 days.

Starting in Greenwich, passengers will travel across the UK and Norway before crossing the Atlantic Ocean to arrive in Greenland.

After making the rounds in Canada and the US, with stops in Montreal, New York City and Bermuda, the ship will pay a visit to Barbados before cruising the Amazon river and taking passengers around South America.

Fiji, New Zealand, Australia, China, Singapore, Sri Lanka, India and Thailand are also all key features of the extensive itinerary.

The ship itself consists of two swimming pools, a Nordic spa and eight restaurants, featuring a range of world cuisines.

The voyage concludes with a trip along the west coasts of Spain and Portugal before returning to the UK.

There are a number of different accommodation options on board, a number of which have already sold out, with the cheapest starting at £66,990 for a 270 square foot veranda room.

In addition to various penthouse suites, ranging from £81,390 to £100,090, there’s the expansive “Owner’s Suite”, which features a private library in addition to a living room and dining area.

Naturally, this luxury option will set you back £194,390 - it has already been booked.

With 71 per cent of travellers having regrets over missed travel opportunities, according to research conducted by Booking.com, there’s no doubt that Viking’s round-the-world trip will curb any fears of missing out.

However, given that the average British family spends £1,284.54 per person on holiday, it’s unlikely that such a trip will be nothing more than a distant dream to most people.
