Watch live as Attorney General announces action against Texas abortion law

US Attorney General Merrick Garland is holding a news conference on Thursday (9 September) to announce a civil rights action, as President Joe Biden attempts to block the enforcement of a Texas law that almost entirely bans abortion in the state. The US Supreme Court last week upheld a Texas law banning abortion after about six weeks of pregnancy, before many woman even know they are pregnant. Texas Governor Greg Abbott has come into criticism for his attempts to defend the law, with Congresswoman Ocasio-Cortex calling him “ignorant”.
