Rishi Sunak and Sajid Javid resign over Pincher scandal

Rishi Sunak and Sajid Javid resigned on Tuesday (5 July) over Boris Johnson's handling of the Chris Pincher scandal.

In his resignation letter, the outgoing Challencelor of the Exchequer said: “The public rightly expects the government to be conducted properly, competently and seriously.

Mr Javid, the health secretary's letter, said: “I regret that I can no longer continue in good conscience.”

The resignations came after No 10 admitted the prime minister was aware of the misconduct allegations lodged against Chris Pincher.
